Zambia, Africa
Trend: Chitenges
Bamaayos [women] generally wear a chitenge (or colorfully printed wrap) on the bottom, and a western style T-Shirt or blouse on the top, juxtaposing American imports with traditional Zambian attire, says resident Virginia Tedrow, 24.
Non Trend: Above the knee
Virginia also observed a non trend: showing anything above the knee for women is considered taboo, although revealing your breasts is completely normal.
Florence, Italy
Trend: Colored Jeans (for men!)
Although “metro” fashion is gaining popularity in the U.S., Italians take it to a whole new level. In Italy, you can see many men walking the street in bright red and yellow jeans, something you’d rarely witness in America, says resident Cynthia Rivas, 20.
