• Poker straight hair can pull your face down. Putting your hair up can soften your features and draw attention to your smile.
  • Get the photographer to take more than one photo! The more you have taken, the more likely it is you’ll be captured from a flattering angle.

Makeup tricks
You’d be forgiven for thinking that slapping on gallons of foundation and concealer over pimples and blemishes will create alabaster skin and hence wonderful photographs you’d be proud to display. Forget it. Overdo the foundation and you’ll look like a wax figure or, worse, a cross dresser. Be subtle instead.

  • Apply a light foundation only when necessary, such as to the sides of your nose or over pimples.
  • To avoid a shiny face, stick to matte-formula makeup for your blemishes and only use creamy, reflective concealers for your eyes.
  • Flatter your best features. Apply blush over the apple part of your cheeks, sneak a couple of extra false lashes on your eyelids and slick on some glossy lipstick. Don’t forget the golden rule of makeup though: Never overplay the eyes and the makeup bag.
