Project Northstar is a program that tutors and mentors at-risk youth students and children living in homeless shelters in the Washington D.C. area. They are currently looking for adult volunteers to teach basic learning skills and to make a positive impact on their lives. Volunteers will work one-on-one with a child during the academic school year and summer for one night a week. There are currently six tutoring sites located throughout the District. The program requires volunteers to make at least a one year commitment, though an exception can be for those interested in becoming substitute tutors. Email kblack@projectnorthstar.org for more details.
