She is also concerned with keeping Allie challenged: “[Allie] is so prolific, and a lot of what she writes wants to be a novel, so I thought it might be fun to have her meet up with a novelist. We’re trying to keep [everything] tailored to the actual girl, and keep it flexible so she can continue to grow.”
This season, Lewis has signed on to be a personal advisor, which is one of the many ways WriteGirl makes sure the mentors received the support they need.
“I’m going to be helping other mentors navigate whatever challenges come up with their ‘mentees,’” says Lewis. “The problems can be anything from personal chemistry or cultural differences to convenience problems. Because I’ve had a pretty dreamy mentoring experience I have never dealt with that. I’m like ‘There [are] problems? Really?’”
