SM: Have you ever spotted any famous politicians walking around Washington?
Leah: I’ve worked for senators so I’ve seen them in the senate office building. But we see the motorcade go by all the time for Cheney and Bush. [She did share an elevator with Senator John McCain (R-AZ) once, but she didn’t get to talk to him. He was on the phone.]

SM: Do you participate in any other extracurricular activities on campus?
Leah: I am a member of Sigma Kappa. I absolutely love my sorority. I live in the house. You don’t have to live in the house, but the reason I chose to is because it’s good housing, and I love the girls in my sorority. I think if you asked any given student they would say that each sorority has a different kind of reputation, a different persona. There’s a different kind of girl that belongs in each one. I guess I would like to say that we’re nice, that people like us. I think generally we throw good parties.

SM: What’s your major?
Leah: International Affairs, [although] I’m not sure what I’m concentrating in yet. I’m taking Spanish and Arabic; you can concentrate in a specific region of the world, so I’m thinking of concentrating in Middle Eastern Studies and minoring in Spanish.

SM: What would you like to do when you graduate?
Leah: Something international.

SM: How do you like going to school in a city?
Leah: It’s really cool. It’s very, very different from what I’m used to. I’m from Seattle. The first thing I missed about Seattle was the trees. [I found myself] walking around this giant, concrete jungle and thinking to myself, why isn’t it green here? Sometimes you just want to go out in the country, but where GW is situated is really cool because Virginia is only like a ten minute walk away. And…DC itself, is awesome. There’s so much to do here.
