SM: What other things are unique to Reed?
Emily:
There is the honor principal, kind of the underlying theme of all of Reed. It’s a formal form of government articulated differently by different people. It’s an assumption that everyone on campus will act in a way that is responsible, mature, mindful and considerate. You’re sometimes allowed to take final exams in your pajamas in the dorms and email them to the professors, because everyone understands that cheating is not following the honor principal. Academic dishonesty is a big offense.
