One way to feel connected on campus is to seek out other commuters. There is often a club or organization for them. By connecting with commuters, especially the upperclassmen, you can meet people with whom you have something in common and can map out strategies for how to get the most out of college life.

Bottom Line:
Commuters have to go that extra mile (or 100+ miles) to get involved. If you must commute, try to go to class, work, and hang out on campus. Find a few good friends and find a place to crash. If possible, live on campus.
