We all have a style, whether it’s eco chic, modern meets glamour or simply laid back jeans and a T-shirt. Being able to represent this style in our home décor is another story. Thom Filicia from the Style Network’s “Dress My Nest” helps us figure out exactly how to incorporate our fashion point of view into our interior design.
Pin-Point Your Style
The first step to integrate “you” into your home is to really figure out your overall style, and the best way to do this is to ask your friends. “Sometimes friends and family notice details about how you dress that you haven’t even realized, and can help you answer: are you classic, modern, glamorous or edgy?” says Thom.
Figure Out Your Favorite Colors and Textures
When you walk into a clothing store, the same colors and fabrics you’re drawn to in garments, be it bold red or intricate textured fabrics, are the same colors you’re going to be drawn to when interior decorating, notes Thom. Browse through your closet and take inventory of the predominate colors and fabrics before you shop.
