V-Day Break Up
I had just started dating this really cute, great guy and couldn’t wait to see what he had planned for us on Valentine’s Day. Then on the eve of the big day, a mere 15 minutes before the clock struck 12 and it was officially “V-Day,” he broke up with me. Instead of going on a romantic date, I sat at home and caught up on some work between sob sessions as Norah Jones played softly in the background. – Allison, 27

The worst [Valentine’s Day] was when I felt I had to have [a valentine], like I was a LOSER if I didn't have one sitting at work surrounded by other peoples’ flowers. I had a fight with the guy I was seeing shortly before the day and knew Valentine’s Day would just be another day solo. I was seriously thinking of ditching work so I wouldn't look like a loser but at the last minute I went anyways and carried on with the day as normal. And you know what, I was fine. The next day I got a valentine anyway, though late, and I realized I didn't need it to feel good. – Alanaa, Savvy Miss Member
