Ellen Fein grew up in Lawrence, Long Island, graduated from NYU with a BS in Accounting, and has done graduate studies in Social Work. She currently lives on Long Island with her two children.

Sherrie Schneider was born in New York City. She graduated from SUNY-Binghamton with a BA in English Literature, became a magazine writer and then co-author with Ellen Fein. Sherrie lives in New Jersey with her husband and one child.
