Want to spice up your sex life? Follow the Italian’s example and take it on the road. Durex reports that Italians are more likely to have sex in unorthodox places such as the car (82% of Italian have, versus 70% of Americans), the beach (half of all Italians have gotten freaky in the sand), in an alleyway (20% of Italians have had sex in a public alleyway) and in a garden (nearly one-third of all Italians have done it in a garden). The one place where Americans do dominate is—drumroll, please—the bathroom. 70% of all Americans report that they have made love at least once on a toilet.

Christina, a graduate student from Sicily, states that changing up where you do it can add a much-needed element of surprise and danger. “The more public the place, the greater the sensation,” she says. “The strangest place I’ve ever had sex was in an emergency stairwell in college. It was quite a rush not knowing who was around the corner… the sense of getting caught made it all the more sexy.”

What you see is what you get.
If you feel your bedroom life getting a little monotonous, make like the Germans and don’t be afraid to seek out the pros for help. According to the Secure Computing Corporation, Germany hosts more porn sites than any other country in the world (over ten million pages) and Durex reports that more than one-third of the country has used pornography as an enhancer in the bedroom.
Iris, a German Ph.D. student says porn provides her and her boyfriend with new ideas on how to keep their love life hot. “If we [don’t] have sex for some time, it's not a problem, because we can do the old stuff then. But if we [have] sex frequently for a longer period of time, one of us usually comes up with a new idea, like something he saw in a porn or somebody else told [us] about.”
