Stay out of the way.
Dealing with the issue of noise and inappropriate sounds is just one of the problems often encountered when trying to keep your sex secret from a roommate or parents. Sometimes, your roommate will be more preoccupied with you having company over in the first place. “If they’re completely against you hooking up at home, you may need to save some money for hotels or only date people with apartments of their own,” says Furman.
Some great ways to stay out of the way are:
- Get a room! There are always cheap hotels near airports and convention centers that will provide you the privacy and the sense of freedom you long for.
- Quickies. While not the most romantic, quickies are a good way to make sure you’re not lingering around bothering the people you live with. Schedule afternoon quickies when you know he/she is at the gym, attending a weekly meeting or otherwise out of the apartment. There’s nothing better than to sneak in a quick one when the roommate’s out.
- If you’re the more risky type, another option is to take your sex play into the bathroom for some uninterrupted quality time. Showers running are a perfect noise eliminator and as long as you keep your lusty games under thirty minutes, you can score big and get clean without rousing too much attention.
Living with roommates or parents can be a delicate situation that needs to be handled maturely. One wrong move could put you in the uncomfortable zone, and no one wants to go there. If all else fails, you might need to reexamine your living conditions. Sometimes, the powerful feelings that arise when entering into a new relationship can cause you to take the necessary steps in order to move out on your own. All’s fair in love and roommates, just remember to keep the sex on the sly!
