Get over your cold with a cold stomper smoothie

If you’re home with a cold, like most of us are this time of year, your immune system will thank you for drinking this "Get Over Your Cold" smoothie.


Cut off as much of the white part of the grapefruit as possible if you want to reduce the bitterness of the juice, but be aware that you will get fewer nutrients. Here’s to your health!

  • 1 grapefruit, peeled and juiced
  • 1 carrot, green top removed, ends trimmed, scrubbed, and juiced
  • 1-inch chunk gingerroot, juiced
  • 2 kiwis, peeled and cut it half
  • Dash of cayenne pepper (optional)


Pour the grapefruit, carrot and ginger juices into a blender and add kiwis. Blend on high speed. Add a dash of cayenne pepper as desired, stir, and serve immediately.

Nutritional note: Grapefruit is loaded with vitamin C and bioflavonoids, especially in the white pithy part—supernutrients for the immune cells. Carrot is rich in beta-carotene, another immune cell superfood. Fresh gingerroot is used in Chinese medicine for treating colds and cayenne pepper acts as a decongestant. This should chase a cold away!
