Subject: I'm tierd of it........
When I got out of college I didn't know what I wanted to do with myself...as most post collegiates...so I went to work at Starbucks for two years. It's a fun job and all...I love coffee, but I think it was a way to avoid other jobs--scarier jobs. I just have this feeling that I'm not good at anything. And I don't know what my dreams are...so how can I follow them? I was kick ass at school...I'm a good student...but I feel like i don't have any real life "office job" experience. I don't even know how to fax and scan & I feel like if I put myself in that position, I'll just feel inept and stupid. I don't know what to do....

get a long term temp assignment in an office in a field you enjoy and make a friend with an assisant there and they will teach you all you need to know...

I agree. Because my best friend is going through the same thing. She is a basket ball player and she thought that she would go pro after college--so she didn't get any internships, summer jobs etc. But now she's not going pro, and has very little work experience. She's actually now working for an athletic company, and isn't starting with a high-paying salery (and it can be humbling from time to time), but she is learning some great "work skills." Sometimes you have to just go for it, and know that you are going to feel inept, but you'll get it.

don't feel inept! many young adults such as myself felt this way after college. Get an internship- it will let you wet your feet into an industry you're interested in- without having to really commit to it yet. And it's a good resume builder. You'll have to make some sacrifices though, since most internships are unpaid. But it's worth it when you finally realize your calling in life (which happened to me after doing what seems like 100s of internships in different fields...)

good luck!!

You know, that's tough. You can't worry about what you don't know, and instead, focus on your strengths. You can always get by when you need to. And really sit down and focus on what you want. A temp agency may be a good idea, but maybe you're not good at the 9 to 5 office job. Look at your interests, your desires, and your passion, and don't be afraid to try things. If you don't know how to do something, or you feel it's a hindrance, figure out how to do it. Don't know how to fax and scan? Google it. I did, this is what came up for "how to use a fax machine." http://www.expertvillage.com/interviews/fax-machines.htm (complete with video!). Your world is your oyster, you just have to not limit yourself with fear of what you can't do, and instead, arm yourself with knowledge so that you CAN do it. :) Best of luck.

I understand how you feel. I was once in your shoes. I have done almost everything from installing fence to waitressing. Along the way I did learn some valuable skills. I've learned how to deal with the public, how to do manual labor. I did eventually land an excellent job in the corporate office of health & fitness chain. I am a quick learner & my boss (a lot younger) was very good to show me how to use different program & software on the computer. I had already taught myself how to use a computer. I no longer work there. (They sold the company) But, I did get the confidence to go out on my own. I have my own work from home business. You can do it too. If you interested follow my link. Trust me this is a $3 billion a year industry. Check it out. This is a legitimate company. Please do the research. But, if you aren't sure what you want to do. This is the perfect place to get started. http://karmacandles.scent-team.com
