We don’t know about you, but over here on Team Savvy, we’ve been consuming far more news and social media than usual. While it’s important to be in the know, too much information can cause us to fall down a rabbit hole of fear, anxiety, and overwhelm.

If you’re feeling like you could use a break, try swapping at least some of your news and social media for something more feel-good.

To help, we’ve put together a list of our favorite inspiring and uplifting entertainment. Enjoy!

If you’re in the mood to curl up in a comfy chair with a good book …

Happy All The Time by Laurie Colwin
This feel-good novel follows four good-intentioned people finding love in spite of themselves.

Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb
Peek behind the scenes into a therapist’s world in this hilarious and thought-provoking book. It’s also in the works to be a TV show, so now’s the perfect time to read it!

The Lost Girls by Jennifer Baggett, Holly C. Corbett and Amanda Pressner
Follow three women as they ditch their busy, New York City lives and travel the world for a year. There are plenty of adventures (and a few misadventures), along with thought-provoking questions of what really matters in life and why it’s important to follow your own path.

In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez
This historical fiction work tells the story of four amazing women fighting against a corrupt government and working together to create a better world.

If you’re in the mood to read something that’ll change your life …

Everything Is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
Marie’s fun writing style will keep you engaged and the overarching lesson is one we can all benefit from: Everything (seriously, everything) can be figured out.

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
Louise Hay has taught millions of people how to use positive thinking to heal their lives. This international bestselling book is part inspiration and part straight-up personal growth, including exercises you can use right away to begin healing your life!

What to Do When it’s Your Turn (and it’s Always Your Turn) by Seth Godin
If you need the motivation to find your purpose and put your work out into the world, this book will help you see how vital your contributions are. Plus, it’s a quick read that feels more like a super-motivational magazine than a book.

Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein
If you’ve been wanting to learn how to go about manifesting, this book will be your new best friend. Gabby Bernstein shares personal stories and real tools that have worked in her own life so you too can become a magic manifester.

You are a Badass by Jen Sincero
This No. 1 New York Times bestselling book is life advice straight up! If you like your personal growth books sans sugar-coating, Sincero’s 27 blunt lessons will inspire you to take action and start kicking butt.

If you’re in the mood to snuggle up on the couch with a blanket and binge an entire series on Netflix …

Kim’s Convenience
This Canadian show follows the Kim family and is just a delight. Warm and funny, without ever getting too serious or emotional, it’s perfect when you just want to watch something that’ll put a smile on your face.

The Good Place
The series ended this year, but there are four seasons of the show to enjoy. It’s equal parts hilarious, emotional and thought-provoking — expect to have some philosophical questions raised between laughs.

The Great British Baking Show
It’s a competition, but one where the contestants are all rooting for, and helping, each other. This show will restore your faith in humanity — and make you want to whip up some tasty baked goods.

(You can also return to timeless fan-favorites like: Friends, Frasier, Gilmore Girls, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Cheers, Modern Family, or The Golden Girls.)

If you’re in the mood for popcorn, a glass of wine and a feel-good movie …

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
You might need some tissues, but this sweet story about the real-life friendship between Mr. Rodgers and journalist Lloyd Vogel will remind you of the truly good people in this world.

Love Actually
It’s a classic — filled with first loves, heartbreak, romance and holiday cheer — and one we think doesn’t need to be reserved for the holiday season. Now’s a great time to remind yourself that love actually is all around!

(You can also return to timeless fan-favorites like: Serendipity, Under the Tuscan Sun, Mama Mia!, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, America’s Sweethearts, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, or There’s Something About Mary.)
