The Dalai Lama said, “The very purpose of life is to be happy.” We couldn’t agree more.

Most of us don’t like hearing happiness is in our hands, especially when convinced the world’s out to get us or we’re secretly enjoying a pity part of one, but being happy for the most part, really is a choice.

So, how can we choose it? Let us count the ways…

The easiest? Schedule it.

You know what makes you happy so take a moment and think of one thing you can do today to make you feel that happy, joy goodness and add it your calendar.

Phone call wine date with that old friend who totally gets you? 15-minute “me time” break with a latte and brownie a-la-mode? Walk in nature? Yoga?

Decide it and do it.

And while you’re at it… you know those people, thoughts and things that frustrate, annoy and make you feel flat-out bad? Go ahead and skip em’ or at least cut back.

You really can let that call ring to voicemail, nix that social media craving and let those bad thoughts go.

Life isn’t all sunshine and roses for anyone all the time. We all face dark days and hard times. But you deserve to be happy and have permission to choose it!

Oranges are naturally uplifting. When feeling anxious or depressed a whiff of an orange peel or sweet orange essential oil can make you happier, more alert and relaxed. It can even lower your pulse rate and help keep you from blowing up over something probably not worth blowing up about.

Next time you’re feeling stressed, depressed or overwhelmed peel an orange or take a breath of orange scented essential oil and say, “Ahh, that’s better.”
