Oh, what a wild week this has been. If you’re like us, all the tension and chaos that’s come with the US elections and global pandemic has been hard on your body and mind. Your shoulders and back might feel stiffer, your head might feel foggier, and your heart might beat faster.
Because this week (and this year!) has taken such a toll on our physical and mental health, we want to encourage you this weekend, and moving forward, to be extra good to yourself. Here are some ideas to get you started on a path toward more TLC (and less anxiety).
Take deep breaths. Place your right hand over your heart and left hand on your stomach and take three deep breaths in … and out. On your next round of three breaths repeat this affirmation by Louise Hay with each breath: “I am safe. All is well.” Continue for a couple of minutes.
Be kind to your mind. Your mind is processing more than usual right now. Listen to last week’s episode of our new EveryDay Happy Show podcast for 5 ways to be kind to your mind.
Take a long walk by yourself. Take 20-minutes to yourself and get outside to move your body and clear your head. Hit up a local trail in your town, and soak up all the fall colors and nature sounds. Let go of any negative thoughts and focus on the beauty of your surroundings.
So much has been going on. Take it easy and be extra good to yourself right now.
