Giving thanks is like screaming to the universe, “Yes! Give me more of what I want please, thank you.”
An attitude of gratitude is key to manifesting goodness in our lives and little or big, we can always find something to be thankful for when we try.
In honor of Thanksgiving quickly approaching (and because it just feels so good!), add the following simple exercise to your daily routine and watch yourself feel lighter and brighter.
1. Create 10-minutes of uninterrupted time in your calendar.
2. Get quiet and comfy with a pen and paper and write out five things you’re grateful for.
(Putting pen to paper is said to be more powerful than running off a list in your head or typing, so get old school and write it down.)
3. Go over your gratitude list and really feel in your body how thankful you are. Get that warm and fuzzy feeling going for each thing on your list. You may like to place your hands over your heart, gently close your eyes and breathe in and out while acknowledging how much you have to appreciate.
4. Keep this list close throughout the day so you can review it — especially when in need of a pick-me-up!
Bonus: At the end of the day, write down five things you’re grateful for specific to today. It can be as simple as a stranger holding open the door for you at the cafe, a friend you connected with, a project completed or even a friendly smile given your way.
Don’t feel bad if you get stumped on number three and think to yourself, “Today, today, today … There’s nothing else to be thankful for except it ending!”
It may take awhile to come up with five, but they’ll come to you eventually. 🙂
Quote du jour:
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” – Oprah
